What Is A Doula?

A Doula is a non-clinical professional who is trained to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing people.

Research shows having a doula support your birth decreases time spent in labor, reduces fear and anxiety surrounding birth, decreases the rate of medical interventions, improves bonding between the mom and baby, improves breastfeeding success, helps improve partner support, and empowers mom to make informed decisions about her care.

Why hire Crystal as your birth, bereavement, and postpartum Doula?

I bring years of experience and training in the maternal health space, working primarily as a Maternal Mental Health Therapist and Certified Lactation Counselor. My own lived experience with pregnancy, medical challenges for both mom and baby, and the adjustment into new motherhood and breastfeeding allows me to support clients from a place of understanding and normalization.

I also support a wide range of birth experiences, including VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), planned cesarean births, and unexpected cesarean deliveries. I understand how emotional and layered these experiences can be, and I offer steady, compassionate support through each one.

I lead with empathy and compassion, holding the belief that we are all capable and worthy of the birth and postpartum experiences we desire. When things don’t go as planned, I believe there is still space for healing, meaning, and joy.

It is my honor to walk alongside families during this season and offer encouragement to lean into what brings comfort, grounding, and support throughout their journey into parenthood.

Pregnancy and Birth Doula Package

- 1 virtual interactive manual based prenatal meetings and 1 in person (hands on teaching)

Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Doula Package

-1 additional virtual manual based prenatal meeting (3 visits in total)

- Support during the first moments of postpartum (up to a hour after birth)

- Between two days and one week post discharge, 1 postpartum visit (up to 2 hrs) to process birth and assist with typical adjustments to parenthood

- 1 additional postpartum visit to support breast/chest feeding support during visits, providing time for rest, running errands, and taking a shower, support in understanding baby cues (within the first 12 weeks of life)

- Full meal planning, grocery shopping, and preparation

- Support in creating a self care routine/ plan

- Partner inclusion suggestions

- Screen for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to include postpartum depression

- List of community resources

- Access to maternal mental health support group or ongoing postpartum monthly wellness class Monthly virtual or phone check ins at week 20, 28-36 weeks twice a month, and once weekly starting at 36 weeks until delivery
